Watch battery replacement across Delhi NCR

A battery change is a small job, but it opens your watch. The cell is the easy part. Getting the case back sealed, tested and closed without a mark on it is the work.

A quick job, done properly

A battery change is quick bench work, and it is still bench work. We open the case back with the right tool for the fitting, snap or screw-down, so the lugs and the finish are not scratched. The old cell comes out, the contacts are checked for corrosion, and the correct cell goes in by hand, never with bare fingers. We reset the hands and the date, close the case and check the watch runs. Simple work, but a slipped case knife or the wrong cell causes damage that takes real work to undo.

The seal matters more than the cell

This is where most rushed battery changes go wrong. Every case back has a gasket, and that gasket is disturbed the moment the case is opened. If it is flattened, cracked or dry, it will not seal again. We inspect it, replace it where needed, and grease it before the back goes on. The crown gasket is checked too. Then the case is closed to the correct fit, not forced. A watch that has had its cell changed badly will let in sweat and monsoon damp, and you will find rust later.

When a new cell is not enough

Sometimes the watch still will not run. A fresh cell only proves the fault was never the battery. A leaking old cell leaves green corrosion across the contacts and the circuit. A coil can go open. The train can be gummed with dried oil, or the hands can be fouling the dial. We will tell you what we have found and what it would take to fix, with a free estimate and an estimated timeframe. You decide whether to go further. Nothing is done beyond the cell without your word.

Questions

About watch battery replacement

Do I need to leave my watch with you for a battery change?

Usually not. A battery change is quick work. If it can be done while you are here, we will say so. If the case back is seized, the gasket needs replacing from stock, or the watch does not run once the new cell is fitted, we may ask to keep it. We will say so at the counter rather than after.

Will changing the battery affect my watch's water resistance?

It can, if the case is closed without attention to the seals. Opening a case back breaks the seal it had. We check the gasket, replace it where it has hardened or split, grease it and close the case properly. That gives the case back the best seal it can hold. We will not quote you a depth rating on an older case. We will tell you if a gasket is beyond saving.

Do you change batteries for luxury and vintage quartz watches?

Yes. Those are the ones most worth taking care over, because a scratched case back or a leaking cell does lasting harm. We use the correct opening tool for the case type, handle the movement as little as possible, and fit the cell specified for that calibre. Bring it to the workshop any day between nine and six.
