Disclaimer
What you read on this site is general information about watch and clock repair. It is not a diagnosis of your particular piece, and it is not a promise about what a restoration will achieve.
General information only
The descriptions on this site tell you the sorts of faults we see and the kinds of work we do. They are written in general terms, for a general reader. They are not advice about your watch or your clock. Two pieces that show the same symptom, a clock that stops overnight or a watch that runs fast, can have entirely different causes inside. Please do not use anything here to decide what is wrong with your own timepiece, to price a job in your head, or to attempt a repair yourself. Ring us and ask instead.
A real assessment needs the piece
We cannot diagnose a timepiece from a description, a photograph or a phone call. To tell you honestly what is wrong, we need the piece in front of us, the case open and the movement under the eyeglass. Only then can we see the wear on the pivots, the state of the mainspring, the condition of the teeth, and whether anyone has been inside before us. That examination is what our free estimate is based on. Anything we say before seeing the piece is a first impression to help you decide whether it is worth bringing in.
Restoration outcomes vary
Every old watch and clock has its own history, and that history sets the limits of what restoration can achieve. A movement that has been well cared for responds very differently from one that has been stored damp, run dry for years, or repaired badly by someone in a hurry. Missing or hand-made parts, worn plates, damaged dials and tired cases all affect the result. We will always tell you plainly what we think is achievable for your piece before you commit. What we cannot do is guarantee a particular outcome for an item whose past we did not control.
Brand names are for identification
Where a make or model is mentioned anywhere on this site, it is only so you know the sort of piece we work on. We are an independent repair workshop. Mentioning a name does not mean we are affiliated with that company, authorised by it, sponsored by it or endorsed by it, and we do not claim to be an official service centre for any brand. All trade marks and brand names belong to their respective owners. If your piece is still covered by a manufacturer's arrangement, it is worth checking with them before having independent work done.
Links to other sites
This site may link out to other websites, or embed content such as a map. We include those links because we think they may be useful to you. We do not run those sites, we do not check them regularly, and we have no control over what they publish or how they handle your information. A link is not a recommendation of everything on the other end of it. Once you leave this site you are governed by that website's own terms and privacy policy, so it is worth reading them if you intend to share anything there.
Limits of our responsibility
We take care over what we publish here, but we cannot promise that every page is complete, current or free of error, and we are not responsible for loss caused by someone acting on this site's general information instead of getting their piece looked at. This section is about the website. It does not cut across the responsibilities we take on when you actually hand us a watch or a clock to repair, or affect any rights you have under the laws of India. If anything here is unclear, please email timecare.contact@gmail.com.
